Broken down? Stay safe while you wait
- Switch on your hazard lights.
- On a motorway, leave by the left-hand doors and wait behind the barrier, away from traffic.
- If you're on a smart motorway with no hard shoulder and can't reach an emergency area, call 999.
- Wear a hi-vis vest if you have one, and don't try repairs next to moving traffic.

Yes. Tell us which fuel your vehicle takes when you call.
I've run out on the motorway. What should I do?
Get to the hard shoulder or an emergency area if you can, leave by the left-hand doors and wait behind the barrier. If you're stopped in a live lane, call 999.
How do I tell you where I am?
Give us a postcode, road name or motorway junction, or share your live location on WhatsApp.
Do I need to bring my vehicle to you?
No. We're a fully mobile service with no garage to visit. We come to you at home, at work or at the roadside.
