Where to find it
Your tyre size is printed on the sidewall of the tyre. You'll also find it in your vehicle handbook, and often on a sticker inside the driver's door or the fuel flap.

When to change
Is it time for new tyres?
The UK legal minimum tread depth for cars is 1.6 mm across the central three-quarters of the tyre. Grip in the wet drops well before that.
- Tread close to the 1.6 mm legal limit or the tread wear bars
- Cuts, bulges or cracks in the sidewall
- A puncture in the sidewall or shoulder, which can't be safely repaired
- Uneven wear, which can point to an alignment problem
